I borrowed this from my sister for my son's room which I thought was a lost cause. I was ready to rip out the carpet if it didn't clean well. I was surprised at how clean it turned out. Sure I did have to push the machine along with my foot, so it can soak up the water better, but it worked phenomenally. The machine was easy to maneuver for my 4'11 frame. I'm thinking of buying my own. Here's a tip, don't fill over the max, it will leak.

This shampooer has great suction. It is ideal for homes with wooden floors under the carpet. It works well for light duty jobs. However, it does not scrub stains well. If you have a family with five kids and a dog, it may not be quite enough! The dirty water tank is also somewhat difficult to clean.

I bought this Dirt Devil Jaguar when I first moved into a condo with light colored carpet. As the owner of four cats and a Jack Russell Terrier with below average housebreaking skills, I knew I'd need a good shampooer. I clean with the solution that came with the machine, a then purchased a new large bottle, which was available at Target. It smells great, and it cleans all stains completely. My condo smells fresh and new after a use. The stationary brush also grabs up pet hair as you shampoo. My rugs continue to look brand new. The machine is easy to fill, use and clean. I sometimes don't use all the water and solution, so I leave the remainder in the tank and then refill later with very hot water and new solution. This has never been a problem. My Jaguar has been pressed into service at a moment's notice plenty of times, and has never failed me. Granted I have a small condo, but it's only a small amount more of effort to run the shampooer than my regular vac. I clean the high traffic areas once or twice a week depending on need, and I move all the furniture and clean behind and under once a month. It takes about 8 hours to dry, then I run the regular vac over it. This Jaguar has saved my rugs, which would otherwise have been RUINED. If this one breaks, I will buy another, and will still be ahead of the Hoover I almost purchased instead of this and would have paid $249 (verus $99 at Target). I have known the names Dirt Devil and Target since my college days, and more than ten years later, I continue to trust them both.

I just purchased this machine last weekend, and I used it the same day. On my off-white carpets. I vacuumed first, and like other reviewers you must used hot tap water.
It worked wonderfully. Only, on set in stains I will pre-treat the stains next time before I run the shampooer.
I am unsure as why other's had such problems. It truly is a great machine! Considering how affordable it is. I also
have a Dirt Devil vacuum, that I have had for 5 years now, without a single problem. Dirt Devil makes great products!

My dog was locked in the basement overnight, by accident, and used our new carpet as her potty area.

I ran and purchased this product. I read and followed the directions to the T, and started to use the steam cleaner. As I was using it, I realized that none of the water was being suctioned back into the tank. I tried and tried, but ended up with the gallon of water left in my carpet.

I ended up having to rent a professional cleaner just to get the water out of the carpet, as this product did not suction at all.

Ughhhhhhh.....

I was very skeptical because this machine is much cheaper than other steamers i've seen. But I bought it and used it the first night i got it. It was easy to assemble and easy to use. It got my carpets so clean I was kinda grossed out by how dirty the carpets were. Awesome machine.

I have used this machine many times since I bought it less than a month ago. It was worked better than my mom's more expensive Bissell. It doesn't hold as much water as her's does, but that makes the machine lighter, which to me is important. I'd rather empty and refill the water more often than have a heavier machine. If it died today, I could honestly say I had gotten my money's worth out of it.

This cleaner worked great for about 7 months, then it started leaking cleaning water. We notified Dirt Devil on line and they gave us names of authorized (still under warranty) repair places. I took it to the nearest repair place 3 months ago and it is still there! First, they did not have the part, then, they called and said Dirt Devil finally sent them the part;, but it was also faulty. Now we are still waiting. The impression we got from the repair guy was that this is a wide-spread problem with this cleaner, and I am not sure that I will buy Dirt Devil products again.

We bought this cleaner and it only worked one time! Granted, that one time, it worked very well. But when I dragged it out for a second cleaning just two weeks later, it was leaking water/cleaning solution everywhere and then wouldn't suck it up! We brought it back and exchanged it for another brand that ended up being cheaper and works much better!
